Katla is the Norwegian-Icelandic chef Atli Mar Yngvasson's new restaurant. The name Katla is taken from one of the largest volcanoes in Iceland and is a very lively place with an open kitchen, informal atmosphere and high pulse. They prepare food on an open flame and make sauces on large lava rocks, or so-called molcajetes’ from Mexico. Nordic ingredients are served mixed with flavours and techniques we know from Asia and Latin America.
Taking cues both from the Nordic, Asian and Latin-American culture the graphic direction for Katla plays on a Nordic typographic icon (or totem) that is inspired by the volcano of the same name - that consolidates the cuisines under one umbrella.
